We actually had scheduled this session two weeks later than it ended up taking place! It turns out, babies don’t really care about schedules. Little miss Holly made her grand debut in this world two weeks earlier than expected, which I was initially worried about, until my friend from Babywearing International showed me it’s more common than people think. Of course we adjusted ourselves to accommodate that, since your golden period in newborn photography is within the first 2 weeks.
We shot the majority of Holly’s session in the comfort of her own room. Nichole, Holly’s mom, played a little bit of Country music and set up a space heater. We then settled back and let Holly dictate how the shoot was going to go.
We quickly realized that she was pretty much the cutest little thing!
Meet her big brother, Jonas! (can’t get over his baby-blues!)
He is only two and full of energy, but he was so gentle with his little sister.
Such a beautiful family…
Nichole had this adorable lavender romper that a loved one had given her that she wanted to work into the shoot. So cute!
Holly even gave a brief glimpse of her baby-blues!
The last pose that we tried turned out to be our favorite. We created a little nest for holly using a wreath and a soft blanket. Then we wrapped a gauzy scarf around her to conceal her diaper and placed some soft white flowers on the “nest” for an accent, and voila!
We loved everything about this sweet and simple newborn shoot. We were so honored to be chosen by the Fords to capture this moment in their lives. The newborn days are so precious and gone so soon. We hope that these images will bring back warm memories to this family for many years to come!
